Cruzar el desierto
En los últimos años, los 400 Km. (261 millas) a lo largo del desierto de Sonora y Arizona, se han convertido en lugar sin retorno de miles de emigrantes que arriesgan su vida intentando cruzar a Estados Unidos.
Las temperaturas en el desierto alcanzan 54 grados centígrados en verano. Para sobrevivir se necesita beber 3.7 litros de agua por cada 8 Km. con temperaturas de 38 grados centígrados. La mayoría de la gente que cruza el desierto no lleva más de 7.5 litros de agua.
Uno de los pasos más comunes a lo largo de un antiguo camino del desierto, implica caminar durante varios días alrededor de 80 Km. (50 millas).
La gente muere de sed.
En los últimos 10 años se calcula que han muerto más de 3 mil migrantes, en su mayoría centroamericanos y mexicanos, intentando cruzar el desierto.
La organización Minutemen trabaja atrapando personas ilegales cruzando la frontera en Estados Unidos y poniendo bardas.
Croossing the Dessert.
In the last years, 400 km (261 miles) throughout the Sonora desert and Arizona, have become a place without return of thousands of emigrants who risk their life trying to cross to the United States. The temperatures in the desert reach 54 degrees Celsius in summer. In order to survive it is needed to drink 3,7 liters of water by each 8 km with temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius. Most of the people who cross the desert do not take with them more than 7,5 liters of water for the whole journey.
One of the most common routes throughout an old road through the desert implies to walk during several days around 80 km (50 miles). People die of thirst. In the last 10 years it is calculated that 3,000 migrantes have died, in his majority Central American and Mexican, trying to cross the desert.
The Minutemen organization works catching illegal people crossing the border in the United States and constructing fences.
